Pamporovo is expected to have a successful winter season

The amount of snow that has fallen in the Rhodopes this December is a record for the past 10 years. Speaking for public service broadcaster BNT, caretaker Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev expressed hope that the Pamporovo resort will have a strong tourist season, given the excellent winter conditions and the heavy snowfall.

The problems related to the workforce in tourism remain, but tourists expect good service, said Minister Miloshev. In his words, Bulgaria has an excellent infrastructure for training tourism employees. However, there are still staff shortages in the industry because of the low wages. That is why, hoteliers rely on foreign labor.

Minister Miloshev reminded that Bulgaria is not only a sea and ski destination but also offers opportunities for cultural, SPA, health and wellness tourism. The conditions for climatotherapy are also excellent.  In recent years, our country has ranked among the top five in Europe in terms of domestic tourism, said Minister Miloshev, adding that the Ministry of Tourism supports the industry's demands for a lower differentiated VAT rate.
