The Bulgarian caretaker government will allocate two million leva (about one million euros) to support the remaining 20 thousand households without electricity. The authorities are in constant contact with the regional governors of the affected regions. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Defense and the Road Infrastructure Agency are ready to intervene locally with heavy equipment, the government's information service announced.

By order of the caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, an operational meeting was held this morning at the Ministry of Energy to identify additional measures. In addition to support for affected household consumers, options for supporting non-household customers will also be discussed, the announcement also reads.

Each of the three electricity distribution companies should pay the penalties provided for in the general terms and conditions of the contracts for access to the respective electricity distribution network. This compensation will be doubled with the funds allocated by the state.

In parallel with these measures, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission is launching an extraordinary inspection of the implementation of the investment programs of the electricity distribution companies and the Energy System Operator.
