International police contingent will be deployed on Bulgaria’s border with Turkey

An international police contingent of 100 officers from Bulgaria, Austria, Romania and Hungary is expected to be deployed on Bulgaria's border with Turkey on January 2. In December, Bulgarian caretaker Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov said that after January 1, activities on the Bulgarian-Turkish border, which becomes external to the Schengen area, would be intensified. At the time, he indicated that Greece had also expressed a desire to be part of the joint efforts.
