The government's position is constant. The Bulgarian Orthodox Church (BOC) is one and indivisible, its unity is of particular importance for society. Taking into account the principles of the rule of law and the separation of powers, the resolution of the issue of the two registered Orthodox churches is within the competence of the parliament, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said in the plenary hall. He recalled that the decision of the European Court of Human Rights ruled unanimously that Bulgaria, by refusing to register the old-style church, violates the freedom of thought, conscience and religion, which are regulated by the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Therefore, Glavchev asked the parliament to legislatively resolve the issue of protecting the name of the BOC.
