Nineteen-year-old Tervel Zamfirov achieved his highest ever World Cup finish in alpine snowboarding with a career-best fourth place in the parallel giant slalom in Bansko.

Fellow Bulgarian Radoslav Yankov was stopped in the quarter-finals by none other than Tervel Zamfirov, ultimately finishing fifth in the final standings. The duel between the two provided the most emotional moment of the competition, witnessed by the packed stands at the foot of the Alberto Tomba run.
In the semi-finals, Zamfirov was narrowly defeated by three-time World Champion Andreas Prommegger, with the Austrian beating Zamfirov by just 0.13 seconds. In the battle for third place, Zamfirov lost out to Italy's Gabriel Messner, the winner of the qualifying race.
