China has banned the import of sheep, goats, poultry and equines from African, Asian and European countries.  The ban from the world's largest meat importer affects Ghana, Somalia, Qatar, Congo, Nigeria and Tanzania, Egypt, Palestine, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Germany, Bulgaria, East Timor and Eritrea.

The measure was taken due to outbreaks of livestock diseases, such as sheep pox, goat pox and foot-and-mouth disease, BGNES reports.

The ban also includes processed and unprocessed products and comes after the World Health Organization published information about disease outbreaks in various countries.

Bulgaria is included in the general ban, although there are currently no cases of bird or cattle diseases in the country. There is a problem with an outbreak of sheep plague in the Velingrad region. Because of them, the EU placed the entire Pazardzhik region under quarantine.
