Cooperation between the EU and the US in the Western Balkans is important for Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs participated today in the first regular meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels for the year. The European diplomats discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, EU-US relations and the situation in the Middle East. 

During the discussion, the new Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev pointed out the need to continue assistance to Kyiv and support for its European integration. Regarding EU-US relations, he said that for Bulgaria it is "important to continue and develop cooperation between the EU and the US in the Western Balkans and the Black Sea region, which has a stabilizing role in this part of Europe".
