A joint contingent of officers from Bulgaria, Austria, Romania and Hungary will strengthen the security of the Bulgarian-Turkish border from February 3, the Ministry of Interior announced.

The start of the joint activity will be marked with an official ceremony in Svilengrad hosted by Interior Minister Daniel Mitov. The ministers of interior of Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary, as well as an Austrian delegation, are expected to attend.

The joint security was agreed with Austria for Bulgaria's admission to Schengen. Initially, former acting Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov had already announced that the joint contingent would be deployed from January 2.
