Conditions for winter sports and hiking in the mountains are good. The weather in the mountains is sunny and clear, with a light wind in some parts on higher ground, according to the website of the mountain rescue service of the Bulgarian Red Cross.

The ski runs in Bulgaria’s mountain resorts are processed, the skiing facilities and ski lifts are functioning. The thickest snow cover at Bansko is on the Plateau and at Todorka peak (170-185 cms.) where there is a light wind. In the region of the Rila lakes the weather is quiet and sunny, at Borovets there are scattered clouds, the thickest layer of snow being at the ski runs Markujik and Yastrebets (160 cms.). The weather in the Rhodopes is also quiet and sunny but the snow cover has diminished significantly. There are clouds and fog at Botev peak in the Balkan Range with a light wind.

Tourists should follow the marked routes when hiking in the mountains and stay on the ski runs in the mountain resorts, the mountain rescue service says.
