Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev said that Bulgaria will strictly follow the European consensus regarding the European integration of the Republic of North Macedonia. Minister Georgiev pointed out that Bulgaria remains consistent in its support for the European path of the Western Balkan countries, but in implementation of the "French proposal" from 2022, on which a consensus was reached among European countries.
"Every country, on its road to accession, should meet certain criteria and adhere to them, said Minister Georgiev. According to Georg Georgiev, the EU integration of the Western Balkan countries is crucial for the security and stability of the whole of Europe.
Minister Georgiev said that the European consensus reached on the conditions for the start of EU accession talks with the Republic of North Macedonia is not an issue between Sofia and Skopje but between Skopje and Brussels.
