The organizers told BTA that they were standing in solidarity with the 3-month protests in Serbia against the government.

Since February 5, teachers and students at the Bosilegrad High School have been on a legal strike in support of the student protests and will have 30-minute shortened classes. The decision was made on February 4 at a meeting of the Pedagogical Council. Since the beginning of the second academic term, students and teachers have been organizing a 15-minute silent protest in front of the school every Friday.

On November 1, 2024, a concrete canopy collapsed at the railway station in Serbia's Novi Sad after major renovation. 15 people died at the train station. The tragedy sparked mass protests against corruption in the country.
