Doctors from India to specialise in Pernik

Doctors from India will specialise at the Rachila Angelova Hospital in Pernik. Under the supervision of mentors, they will work in the children's ward, the neurology department and the first internal ward, reports BNR correspondent Elena Tamakyarska. The practice of employing foreigners is not new for the Pernik hospital, said director Emil Nenkov. When he took over, there were Turkish specialists working at the hospital, appointed under his predecessor, Dr Anatoly Mitov.
"Some of the young doctors with Bulgarian citizenship leave the country to practise abroad, and we, on the other hand, sometimes hire doctors of foreign origin who are no inferior in terms of skills and knowledge," Nenkov said.

Because of the staffing crisis at the hospital, outpatient doctors are currently helping to cover night duty.
