The Commission on Protection of Competition has requested information from producers and retailers of fast-moving consumer goods to determine the pricing methods, delivery conditions and factors influencing price changes. The focus of the study is on basic food items such as eggs, dairy products, meat, flour, bread and oil. After analysis, if there are suspicions of prohibited commercial practices, the Commission on Protection of Competition will exercise its powers to restore competition in the sector.

Today, the organizers of the February 13 boycott against food chains — the Consumers' Federation, the association “For Affordable and Quality Food”, the "United Pensioners’ Unions" and "The System Is Killing Us" — called for the boycott to continue on February 20, urging Bulgarian citizens to buy from small neighbourhood shops to support small local businesses. The Ministry of Finance has not yet released data on the turnover of supermarkets on the day of the boycott.
