Weather forecast for 17 February

Snow, rain and freezing temperatures

Minimum temperatures on Monday will be between minus 4 and 1°C. In Sofia it will be around minus 3°C. The mercury will hover between -3 and 0 °C in the north. Maximum temperatures in southern Bulgaria will be between 2 and 7°C. In the capital it will be around -1°C. Snow will fall during the day in most areas, rain in south-eastern Bulgaria. In north-central and eastern Bulgaria, where precipitation will be more significant, snow will form and persist. There will be moderate to strong north-northeasterly winds and blizzard and drizzle conditions in many parts of the Danube plain and northeastern Bulgaria.

In the mountains it will be cloudy with snow showers. There will be moderate south-easterly winds, in higher areas moderate to strong winds from the west. The maximum temperature will be around minus 1°C at 1,200 m and around minus 4°C at 2,000 m.

Clouds and rain showers are expected on the south coast, while snowfall is possible on the north coast. Moderate north-easterly winds will blow. Maximum temperatures will be between 2 and 6°C. The sea water temperature will be around 6°C. The sea swell will be 3-4.

Tuesday will remain cold, cloudy, with snow showers, heavier in eastern Bulgaria. Most of the country will be almost calm, with moderate north-northeast winds in the easternmost areas. Temperatures will be almost unchanged, mostly between minus 5° and 0°C.
