Rahim Rashaida wins world gold for Bulgaria in fencing

Competing against 180 athletes from 36 countries, Rahim Rashaida achieved a historic victory for Bulgarian fencing. Rashaida, who trains at the National Sports Academy Fencing Club under coach Dimitar Nikolov, secured first place at the World Junior Fencing Championships in Vršac, Serbia. Prior to this triumph, Rashaida had already won two silver medals at the U23 European Championships - one in Sofia, Bulgaria, and another in Laupheim, Germany.

The Bulgarian team - Rahim Rashaida, Teodor Petrov, Yuli Tsanev and Filip Yusmen - also put in a strong performance in the team event, finishing in the top eight.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria's women's sabre team of Kalina Atanasova, Emma Neykova and Vasilena Krasteva won a bronze medal at the Junior World Cup in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
