Karlos Nassar named Bulgaria's Athlete of the Year for 2024

Olympic, world and European weightlifting champion Кarlos Nassar has been named Bulgaria's Athlete of the Year for 2024.
137 sports journalists participated in the 67th Athlete of the Year poll. A special guest at the ceremony in Sofia was the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, who presented the award to Nassar. The weightlifter also won the audience vote.

The past year was unforgettable for the weightlifter. On August 9, Nassar won an Olympic gold medal with a world record in the 89 kg category.
Second in the journalists' poll is Boryana Kaleyn. She has a total of 104 medals in her career - 34 gold, 30 silver and the same number of bronze medals. At the Games in Paris, she won silver in the all-around.

Third is the Olympic champion in classical wrestling from the Olympic Games in August 2024, Semen Novikov.
