“There is no change, Bulgarian troops are not going to be sent to Ukraine,” said PM Rosen Zhelyazkov in a comment about the meeting between US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House. “The institutions in Bulgaria are clear – Bulgarian armed forces will not be sent to Ukraine. We are guided by the belief that stable peace in Ukraine cannot be achieved without observance of the interests of Ukraine, the participation of Ukraine, and without the observance of the interests of Europe,” the Bulgarian prime minister said. It is too early to be talking about the possible format of European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine because no truce has been attained, he said further. Answering a question by the BNR what Bulgaria is going to contribute to the process, PM Zhelyazkov said: “Everything we have so far been committed to in this process, in observance of the Bulgarian national interest.”
