The common will and economic potential of the two countries are important prerequisites for the upward development of bilateral relations, said President Rumen Radev at a meeting with the Ambassador of Vietnam Do Hoang Long. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Association of Vietnamese Citizens in Bulgaria, numbering about 2,000 people.
“Vietnamese citizens in Bulgaria, as well as those who have studied and worked in our country, can count on support from the Bulgarian side to promote bilateral contacts and strengthen friendship between Bulgaria and Vietnam,” said Radev.

February 8 marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Under an intergovernmental agreement from 1980, for a period of 10 years, 35,000 Vietnamese citizens work in Bulgaria, and 5,000 graduate from higher education in the country, BTA reports.
