A proposal for the establishment of a state-run company for trading in groceries, primarily produced in Bulgaria, via chain stores, was approved by the National Assembly’s Committee on Budget and Finance.

The proposal was tabled between the first and second reading of the draft state budget for 2025 by Yordan Tsonev and MPs from DPS-New Beginning, affiliated with Delyan Peevski.

The proposal is for the company to be owned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and to have capital amounting to 10 million Leva. The company is supposed to trade in groceries and other essential products via chain stores with a markup that will not exceed 10%.
