President Rumen Radev was a guest at the Elhovo holiday and the celebration of 100 years since its declaration as a town, BTA reported.

According to the head of state, the border town of Elhovo "is today a place with spirit and traditions, with diverse features and many riches". The president congratulated the local municipal leadership for their efforts to renew the infrastructure and preserve the natural resources, as well as for the responsibility and firmness in protecting the Bulgarian border. On the official rostrum, Rumen Radev invited 10-year-old Alexander Shahpazov to congratulate him on his successes in international mental mathematics competitions.

His Eminence Metropolitan Arseny of Sliven gave his blessing to the residents, and in the morning he celebrated the Holy Liturgy in the church "St. Dimitar Solunski".

The festive program ends tonight with a concert by Stefan Valdobrev and "The Usual Suspects", followed by a ceremonial fireworks display.
