Hundreds of people sent Marin Marinov, the UN employee who died in Gaza, on his last journey. The service at the St. Nicholas Church in Yambol was attended by his relatives, friends and colleagues from the world organization, as well as representatives of the Palestinian Association in Bulgaria.

The circumstances under which the Bulgarian died on March 19 in Deir al-Balah in the central part of Gaza due to the destruction of a UN building, and five other participants in the humanitarian mission were seriously injured, have not yet been clarified.

“The state did nothing. Some are not guilty, others are not guilty, and in the end there is no one to blame. Our leaders must take action and seek the truth. Do they ask this mother how she will survive this,” said Fiyka Svetlichkova, one of those present at the service.

According to the relatives of the 51-year-old UN employee, Bulgaria’s position is inadequate. They insist that Bulgaria should conduct its own investigation into the tragedy.
