Minister Borshosh: We are considering the creation of tourist police at the Black Sea coast

The summer tourist season in Bulgarian seaside resorts will officially open on May 31 in Pomorie, Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh said in Burgas. “We are highly prepared to welcome it,” he added.

The minister also highlighted some problems as among them were concerns related to the work of Burgas Airport.

“I do not see a trend for increasing passenger traffic through the airport, or at least not one that is significant for the development of the region. I see prepared municipalities, good infrastructure, and at the same time, connectivity in no way meets what the municipalities and the industry expect,” Miroslav Borshosh said.

At a meeting with the controlling institutions and mayors on the Black Sea coast, the question of the need for legislative changes related to the design deadlines and the limited construction period was raised. The possibility of establishing a control body under the Ministry of Tourism to perform the functions of tourist police was also discussed.

"There are control functions that are scattered across different bodies, their coordination is complicated and this means a delayed reaction or even the lack of one. This will help shed light on the gray sector in tourism, especially the organization of unregulated tourist trips," the minister said.
