New chair of EWRC forecasts cheaper natural gas in the coming months

A drop in the price of natural gas in the coming months due to the collapse of prices on world markets – this is the forecast of the chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, Plamen Mladenovski, in an interview with BNT. “I hope there will be a reduction of at least 10 percent,” he said.

According to Plamen Mladenovski, the new composition of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission has started its work well, reducing the price of gas by 14.3% in April compared to the previous month. This, he said, is due to the cheaper quantities of Azerbaijani gas supplied and reduced consumption. However, he did not commit to a long-term forecast for the price of natural gas.

The new chairman of the commission described as “groundless” the claims of some of the district heating companies for a serious increase in the price of heating and hot water from July 1 this year. Regarding the planned liberalization of the household electricity market from the same date, Mladenovski said that consumers will not suffer. "There is a ready-made scenario in which, through compensation, bills will not change sharply," he added.
