The Bulgarian tennis player prevailed over the wild card representative of the hosts with 4:6, 6:3, 6:1.

In the round of 16, Grigor Dimitrov will face Alejandro Tabilo from Chile, who brought the surprise of the tournament, winning 6:3, 6:4 against Serbian Novak Djokovic. Last year, the Bulgarian won both his matches against his rival for a place among the eight best in Monte Carlo.
