The latest discussions of the Bulgaria-North Macedonia Commission on Historical Issues were completely unproductive due to the position of the colleagues from Skopje. In essence, there was no productive atmosphere. The colleagues from North Macedonia refused to discuss joint commemorations of historical figures with anniversaries in 2025, Associate Professor Naum Kaychev, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgaria-North Macedonia Commission on Historical Issues, told BGNES. The Commission's latest meeting was held on April 10 and 11 in Sofia.

Associate Professor Kaychev denied that the meeting took place in a "constructive atmosphere," as claimed by the Skopje team led by Professor Vancho Georgiev. Associate Professor Naum Kaychev pointed out that no opportunities for progress are seen in the near future.
