Five out of seven paediatricians at the capital's Fifth Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment "Knyaginya Klementina" have submitted their resignations over low salaries, said Dr Tatyana Dolomanzhi, a resident doctor at the health facility. The doctors, supported by colleagues and parents, staged a silent protest in front of Sofia City Hall.

"This is a shout for dialogue because the administration is not communicating with us, and we warned them three weeks before we submitted our resignation letters. We will no longer work on this salary. My gross salary as a resident doctor is €971; a specialist earns €1,000, and a head of department receives €1,100," said Dr. Tatyana Dolomanzhi

Most of the patients in the children's ward of the Fifth City Clinical Hospital are poor, and not all parents can afford to buy medicine for their children.
