The total output at basic prices from the agriculture sector in 2024 amounts to €4,970.1 million, which is 7.9% less compared to the previous year.

This decline is due to two main factors: a 3.2% decrease in the quantity of agricultural products produced and a 4.9% drop in the prices farmers receive for their products. This is according to an assessment by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) of the economic accounts for agriculture in 2024.

In addition, the value of inputs used in agriculture, such as seeds, fertilisers and machinery, has also fallen. Specifically, the volume of agricultural inputs used fell by 7.6% and the prices of these agricultural inputs fell by 3.0% compared to the previous year.

In 2024, net entrepreneurial income in agriculture reached 492.9 million euro, which is 1.1% lower than in 2023.
