Residents and visitors to Sofia will have the opportunity to learn more about Bulgarian scientists working in Antarctica and their important role in the exploration of the continent. The exhibition "Antarctic People - Caring for the Earth" by BNR journalist Marina Velikova will be on display from April 17 to May 7 at the Lovers' Bridge near the National Palace of Culture. The official opening will take place on 23 April at 19:30 as part of the Earth Day celebrations (22 April).

The exhibition highlights the issue of environmental change and the essential role of modern society in protecting the planet.

In addition to Marina Velikova's photographs, visitors will be able to delve deeper into the experiences of the expedition members through interviews conducted by the author. Produced in collaboration with Bulgarian National Radio's Horizont programme, the interviews will be accessible through QR codes accompanying the photographs, Artsofia.bg reports.

"Antarctic People - Caring for the Earth" is part of the broader project "Antarctica in New Dimensions". Velikova's previous photo exhibition "The Ice of Antarctica" was presented in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Bansko.
