In July, it will become completely clear whether Bulgaria will join the eurozone on January 1, 2026. This was stated in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio by Deputy Minister of Finance Metodi Metodiev.

The two reports on the assessment of the implementation of the criteria for the introduction of the single European currency (the convergence reports) - by the European Commission and the European Central Bank - will be published on June 4.

"The process should end on July 8 with the final decision of the Council on the admission of Bulgaria to the eurozone," Metodiev explained.

He confirmed that, in addition to meeting the nominal criteria set out in the Maastricht Treaty, Bulgaria is already legally compatible with the legislative framework of the eurozone countries.
