Artist Vanya Petkova from Kardzhali paints non-traditional icons, depicting saints on ostrich eggs. She started about 15 years ago with images of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. The first egg she painted is still intact and is kept by her relative.

In addition to the images of Christ and the Virgin Mary, the artist paints St. Marina, St. Petka, the patron saint of the family St. Mina, St. Pantaleon, St. St. Constantine and Helena, St. George, etc.

Vanya Petkova says that she is not the most devout, but she enters church with respect and when she paints ostrich eggs, she feels peace and harmony. People, for their part, do not hide their admiration for the painted images, which seem to be alive.
