The INSAIT Institute at the University of Sofia has released its first language model in a foreign language. MamayLM was created for the Ukrainian state and is the most powerful Ukrainian language model to date, according to the Ministry of Education.

MamayLM is a joint development with ETH Zurich, Switzerland. With 9 billion parameters, it is cost-effective and can run on a single graphics processor, yet is extremely powerful in both Ukrainian and English. The model significantly outperforms similar developments in both languages.

Funded by donations, MamayLM is freely available to all Ukrainian users and institutions. In the future, a public chat interface may be launched with the model. This would allow users to interact with the AI in a conversational way, similar to chatting with a virtual assistant or customer support bot, making it easier to find information and get help.
