A special book of condolence was opened today at the Apostolic Nunciature in Sofia following the passing of Pope Francis.
“He knew how to engage in dialogue with people of our time with simplicity and sincerity, always seeking that which unites us and helps us rediscover ourselves as brothers,” the Catholic Church in Bulgaria stated in a message to the media. Citizens who have been arriving since the morning described the late Pope as a humble servant of peace and hope, BNT reported. The book of condolence will be open today from 3.30pm to 6pm, and tomorrow from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 3.30pm to 6pm at 6 August Street.
A Funeral Mass for Pope Francis will be held on April 28 at 6pm at the Co-Cathedral of St Joseph, 146 Knyaz Boris I Street in Sofia. It will be presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Luciano Suriani, and the Bishops of the Catholic Church in Bulgaria.
