A children's hospital for active treatment will open in Burgas by the end of the year, it became clear during the inspection of its construction by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. The medical facility will have 16 wards with 147 beds and will serve half a million children. The hospital will employ 120 doctors and 220 nurses.

"The quality of healthcare is made by people, but in order for them to stay and work in Bulgaria, they need good conditions and this is a wonderful hospital facility," the Prime Minister said.

Rosen Zhelyazkov added that society was tired of waiting for a national children's health policy aimed at both patients and paediatricians. According to him, all disputes surrounding the National Children's Hospital must stop in order for its effective construction to begin.

The project for the construction of a children's hospital in the seaside city was prepared by an international consortium, sponsored and financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
