A discussion on the potential reintroduction of religious education in Bulgarian schools was held at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The discussion was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Religions will be studied from a cultural and historical perspective. A curriculum different from the current non-confessional curriculum should be developed, with a focus on the formation of values and virtues, said Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev. "This will not be a mandatory class in religious studies, but rather a compulsory class in upbringing", Krassimir Valchev added.
