The Bulgarian delegation, led by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov has arrived in the Vatican where they will attend Pope Francis’ funeral services.
Before the start of the ceremony, PM Zhelyazkov will personally convey his condolences to Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The funeral ceremony, which is being attended by leaders from all over the world, is taking place in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
“His Holiness Pope Francis was a true friend of Bulgaria. His moral leadership and his commitment to dialogue shall be remembered by the generations,” said Premier Zhelyazkov on Monday after the passing of Pope Francis was announced. Pope Francis will forever remain as a symbol of peace, compassion and unity, the Bulgarian prime minister said.
