At a meeting at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), President Evelina Slavcheva and European Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva, discussed the involvement of BAS scientists in the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, according to a press release from the scientific institution.

Ms. Slavcheva invited Commissioner Zaharieva to visit BAS institutes to see first-hand their scientific achievements. During the meeting, Slavcheva also presented her vision for an international regional project focused on the introduction of hydrogen fuel in heavy-duty transport. She highlighted the first hydrogen refuelling station in Bulgaria and the region, which marks a significant milestone in the country's journey towards hydrogen mobility. The conversation also touched on the need for a unified government policy to support hydrogen technologies.

In addition, the importance of encouraging young people to pursue careers in research and strengthening the link between science and business was highlighted.

The traditional Science for Business meeting, organised by BAS, is scheduled for June.
