From May 7 to 11, Sofia will host the 16th International Animation Film Festival “Golden Kuker”, the organizers announced. Ten awards will be presented in ten separate categories. A national competition for the best Bulgarian animated film is also taking place. The Grand Prize is the "Golden Kuker", and the special award is named after animator Proyko Proykov.

"This year, we received again over 3,000 films, from which we selected 130 from over 100 countries for the competition", the organizers added. A special guest and jury member will be Ligia Soare, Director of the Animest International Animation Film Festival (Romania). The theme of the festival, once again, is "Through art and education toward a better and more ecological world".
