14 gymnasts will represent Bulgaria at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Varna, which starts today. European vault silver medalist Valentina Georgieva will lead the women's team.
“The vaults in Varna will be the same as those at the Artistic Gymnastics World Cups in Osijek and Cairo, but I’m considering the possibility to increase the difficulty of my second vault in the final. However, it won’t be at any cost, since I need to preserve myself for the European Championship, where more complexity is needed due to tougher competition”, said Valentina Georgieva.
After an injury, Kevin Penev returns to the men's team and will compete for medals in floor and vault. “I’m not thinking about medals, but about my preparation and performing better and better each time. It’s always a pleasure to compete in front of the home crowd”, said Kevin Penev.
At last year’s edition of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Varna, Valentina Georgieva won the gold medal on vault, while Yordan Alexandrov claimed gold on horizontal bar.
