In a position sent to President Rumen Radev, to the Speaker of the National Assembly Nataliya Kiselova and Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, the Association of the Organizations of Bulgarian Employers (AOBE) states its firm support for Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone on 1 January 2026. The position is in response to the proposal for a referendum on the euro submitted to parliament by President Rumen Radev. "Completing the process of Bulgaria's European integration, through our full membership in the Economic and Monetary Union, will guarantee accelerated income growth and faster real convergence in purchasing power towards the average European values," the employers say.

The association unites employers' organizations operating in all spheres of economic life, creating over 86% of the gross added value through 82% of all employees.

Earlier today, one of the two largest trade union organizations in the country - CITUB, also announced their support for joining the eurozone. According to them, the ultimate effect of this will be a rise in the incomes of Bulgarian citizens and a better future.
