Employees of the Maritsa East 2 Thermal Power Plant, affiliated with the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the “Podkrepa” Labor Confederation, held a silent protest in solidarity with staff from the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), Bulgarian National Television (BNT), and the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

Public media workers are demanding a minimum 15% pay rise. Demonstrating under the slogan 'Work in the media has value', employees of BNR, BNT and BTA blocked the intersection in front of Sofia University 'St. Kliment Ohridski'.

The three media organisations are calling for an additional 14 million BGN to be allocated from the state budget for wage increases, of which 5 million BGN would go to Bulgarian National Radio alone.
