Weather forecast for 20 May

Morning sun, afternoon showers, temperatures remain low for the season

On Tuesday, minimum temperatures will range from 8 to 12°C. In Sofia, it will be around 8 °C. The day will be mostly sunny, with scattered clouds and a chance of light rain in the afternoon. The wind will blow from the west-northwest, reaching moderate to strong speeds, but only in the Danube Plain. Maximum temperatures will range from 20 to 25°C; in the capital, it will be around 21°C.

The same pattern applies to the mountains, where cumulus clouds will develop in the afternoon, bringing short showers to the higher massifs of the Eastern Rhodopes and along the Stara Planina ridge. Strong winds will continue to blow and there will be temporarily stormy winds from the west-northwest on the higher ridges and peaks. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 metres will be around 15°C, and at 2,000 metres around 7°C.

It will be sunny along the Black Sea coast. There will be a moderate westerly wind, which will weaken and change direction to south-easterly. Maximum air temperatures will range from 17 to 21°C. The swell will be 2-3.


On Wednesday, the wind will shift to the south, raising temperatures by 3°C. There will be widespread rainfall across the country, with a high probability of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
