Banking services in Bulgaria are among the most accessible in the EU, according to an analysis by the Association of Banks in Bulgaria. According to it, banks in Bulgaria offer the lowest interest rates in Europe on newly granted loans to households for the purchase of a home in national currency. According to ECB data, as of March 2025, the average interest rate in Bulgaria in national currency is 2.46%, compared to 2.94% for Croatia, 2.99% for Slovenia and 6.82% for Hungary, BTA reports.

The study also shows that subscription packages for bank services in Bulgaria provide over 6 times lower prices compared to the use of single services from the banks' tariffs. According to data on payment service provider fees published on the official website of the central bank, the cheapest "basic" package among the countries Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia is in Bulgaria, at a cost of 1.70 euros/month.
