Today, parades and celebrations marking 24 May — the Day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian alphabet, education, culture and Slavic literature — are taking place across Bulgaria.

In Sofia, the procession begins at 10:30am and will proceed along the central boulevards Tsar Osvoboditel and Vasil Levski, reaching the National Library "Sts. Cyril and Methodius" at 11am. Vice President Iliana Yotova will participate in the solemn ceremony that will follow.

In Blagoevgrad, President Rumen Radev will greet the National Humanitarian High School "Sts. Cyril and Methodius" graduates. The traditional festive procession will then start, proceeding through the town's streets to Georgi Izmirliev Square. There, a celebration featuring a variety of events will mark both May 24 and Blagoevgrad Town Day.

A festive parade will also take place in Veliko Tarnovo, where nearly 800 high school graduates will march along a 200-metre red carpet in the city centre, continuing a long-standing local tradition. Meanwhile, the ancient city of Nicopolis ad Istrum, located near Veliko Tarnovo, will host the 'Nike – The Game and Victory' festival. According to BNR correspondent Zdravka Maslyankova, the audience will see the most popular ancient games, reenactments of battles and gladiator fights, a slave market and an ancient clothing fashion show.
