After restoration, a 19th-century printing press from the printing house of Hristo G. Danov - the founder of Bulgarian book publishing - is back in action in Old Plovdiv. According to BNT, visitors to Danov’s house-museum at 2 Mitropolit Paisiy Street can now observe the book printing process as it would have been in the second half of the 19th century.
Some of the first books and textbooks printed in the newly liberated Bulgarian state were produced on this very press. Although it is no longer used for printing books, the machine provides a vivid insight into traditional printing methods of the past.
