A survey by the Myara sociology agency, reported by BTA, found that 38% of Bulgarians cannot or will not vacation this summer. This was an answer given mostly by older people from small towns.

The survey revealed that 33.2% of people would take a holiday in Bulgaria. 11.9% would choose a destination abroad, 9.6% would travel both at home and outside of Bulgaria, and nearly 8% are undecided.

Households have set aside an average of 2,200 BGN (1,125 EUR) for their holidays. The seaside is the most popular destination, chosen by 38.9% of respondents, while 15.3% prefer "somewhere else" and 16.1% are undecided.

A quarter of those polled fall into the "I cannot think about such things" category. The agency has stated that older people, representatives of minority groups and the rural population do not even consider going on holiday.

The survey was conducted face-to-face using tablets among 806 Bulgarian adults between 8 and 16 May 2025.
