The construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor is a symbol of European partnership, technology transfer and the creation of cooperatives in the construction of such networks, said Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov during the inspection of the construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor. Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz, Vladimir Malinov, representatives of the six countries participating in the project also arrived in the area of the village of Mikrevo.

Nearly 40 km of cleared terrain, 15 km of welded pipes (3 km of them already underground), are the results achieved so far on the 49 km long project. According to the Minister, this is more than expected.

“The inspection of the construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor shows that countries that are partners and allies are creating opportunities to ensure gas transmission diversification,” said Rosen Zhelyazkov. He added that the project gives the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe many opportunities that go beyond the traditional understanding of sovereignty, independence and competitiveness.

According to Vladimir Malinov, the gas corridor is a symbol of the solidarity that all participating countries show towards Moldova and Ukraine in order to provide them with an alternative supply of liquefied natural gas after the cessation of Russian supplies.
