Poetess, writer and publisher Bozhana Apostolova passed away at the age of 80 at her home in Plovdiv, her son, MP Manol Peykov, announced.
Bozhana Apostolova was a publisher, poet, prose writer and recipient of Bulgaria’s highest state honor—Stara Planina Order. She was the founder of Janet 45 Printing and Publishing Company.
Bozhana Apostolova was born on May 9, 1945, in the village of Tsar Asen, Pazardzhik district. She graduated in Bulgarian Philology at the University of Veliko Tarnovo. After 1989, she founded one of the first private publishing houses in Bulgaria, which over time grew into a full-scale printing and publishing company.
Bozhana Apostolova authored 10 poetry books, 4 novels and 12 children's books. Her works have been translated into German, Turkish, Russian, Italian, Hungarian, Spanish, Serbian, Czech, Romanian, Greek and other languages. She was also the founder of the literary festival ''Plovdiv Reads''.
