The news and concerts broadcast by the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) are the most listened to by the audience. This is indicated by a representative study by "Alpha Research" commissioned by the Council for Electronic Media and examining the public mission of the BNR and the Bulgarian National Television.
Over half of the respondents would like more Bulgarian music on the BNR. Another 40 percent prefer foreign artists. Over 1/3 of the listeners want even more news, and approximately the same share want more information about the weather and traffic conditions.
The Chairperson of the Council for Electronic Media Simona Veleva said that the dialogue on the future of the media goes through objective sociological data and preserving the independence of public media. The need for funding and attracting the young audience up to the age of 29 was also highlighted.
