Bulgaria wants the European integration of Ukraine and Moldova because of its national minority

The transition and accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU are important because the largest Bulgarian national minority is located there, said Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in Odessa. He participated in the fourth Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit, BTA reports.

A lasting ceasefire is a prerequisite for starting the reconstruction of Ukraine, Zhelyazkov said at the press conference after the forum. Unfortunately, Ukrainian proposals are met with ultimatums from the Russian side, which does not provide guarantees, Zhelyazkov said, quoted in a government press release.

"For us as an EU country, the attitude of the Ukrainian state towards our compatriots in all aspects of their inclusion in political, economic and social life, including in the reconstruction of Ukraine, is very important," Zhelyazkov summarized.
