Between 50,000 and 70,000 foreign workers may be included in the Bulgarian labor market by the end of the year, according to estimates by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. This was announced by Minister Borislav Gutsanov before the relevant parliamentary committee.

In the first 4 months of 2025, as many workers from abroad entered the country as in the whole of 2024. Estimates indicate that foreign workers from countries outside the EU are mainly from Asia, Gutsanov said.

The largest number of foreign workers is in the field of tourism and hospitality, agriculture and the canning industry. Asked whether he is concerned about the number of foreign workers, the minister said that the issue is multidimensional. There are over 200,000 young people in Bulgaria who neither study nor work, Gutsanov recalled.
